Many so-called "high pressure" shower heads restrict the water flow to increase the perceived pressure of the spray, similar to putting your thumb over the end of a garden hose. This results in less water rinsing your body, and more time spent just to get the shampoo out of your hair. Try cupping your hands in such a shower, and see how long it takes to fill them up! The image on the left shows the original hole through which the water must pass. It's amazing that the water comes out at all!
